In preparation for Father’s Day this year, I pored over Pinterest looking for a craft my 2-year-old could do for her daddy. Most of the crafts I found would’ve involved me doing the lion’s share of the artwork, so I was thrilled to find this one that my daughter could make a real contribution to AND still have the end result look pretty nice.

Materials:

  • Canvas
  • Painter’s Tape, masking tape, washi tape, or any other tape that will peel off canvas without leaving residue
  • Scissors to cut tape
  • Age appropriate painting supplies

Instructions:

  1. Use the tape to create a Father’s Day message on the canvas. With a young toddler this part will be up to you. An older child may be able to do this on thier own.
  2. Set your child up with paints and instruct them to cover the canvas in whatever way they like. I put my two-year-old in an empty bath tub with finger paints and let her go crazy, but this could be done with any kind of paint.
  3. Let the paint dry.
  4. Peel the tape of the canvas to reveal the message for Dad.
